Three journalists threatened in one night in Batticaloa by a group of unidentified

Three  Tamil journalists based in Sri Lanka’s military-occupied Eastern Province have been threatened with death. 

Three journalists in Batticaloa were threatened yesterday (2023.12.14) by an unknown group.

“ who publish news against the government.'' They have threatened to kill.  

They warned that anyone writing against the government would soon face death penalty - at night with their faces covered with a black cloth Four Persons on two motorcycles They went to the houses of journalists.

Lives in Batticaloa District Mr. Selvakumar Nilanthan , Mr. Punniyamurthy Sasi, Mr. Sabanayagam Satheeskumar the three were threatened during the night. They have been threatened before.

On February 9, 2022, officers with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), a branch of the Sri Lanka police, questioned Selvakumar Nilanthan, a freelance Tamil journalist and secretary of the Batticaloa District Tamil Journalists Association, for two hours at a police station
